AngleseyMusic Scholarship scheme

Twice per year, we open a limited number of teaching slots for new students and their families who need a little extra help to start their musical journey.

We provide up to 6 months of weekly lessons to help a student develop a sound and solid foundation in their music education. At the end of the 6 month period, we work with our scholarship students, provide statements, supporting evidence, videos and reports to assist each student secure charitable funding to continue their learning.

Every student attending lessons under the scholarship will be treated with the same care, respect and attitude as all of our students, they will receive the same opportunities and benefits as every student and given the same support, tuition and quality education.


You could be eligible to join our scholarship scheme if you meet the following 3 criteria:

  1. You have not previously taken music lessons with AngleseyMusic

  2. Are either a new starter or beginner (below grade 3) music learner

  3. You or someone you live with receives a means tested benefit OR has a mental health condition and an income below the defined threshold.​


The means tests benefits that qualify are:

  1. Child Tax Credit (income below £16,105 a year)

  2. Council Tax Reduction (exemption and discount do not qualify on their own)

  3. Housing Benefit

  4. Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

  5. Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

  6. Income Support

  7. Pension Credit

  8. Universal Credit

  9. Working Tax Credit (income below £16,105 a year)

Mental Health Eligibility Criteria

  1. Mental health issues (including depression, anxiety, psychosis and bipolar disorders, dementia, intellectual and development disorders).


You may need to provide some further evidence such as a benefit award letter. For mental health, you will be asked to confirm that you have evidence of your health condition such as a written statement, diagnosis statement, treatment plan or referral letter.

There are a number of conditions to an AngleseyMusic scholarship:

  • Scholarship slots are limited availability and presented to those who are unable, for whatever reason, to afford music education.

  • This scheme is only open to students new to AngleseyMusic and meets the criteria above.

  • A scholarship application form is linked below. Upon completion and, providing you meet our criteria, you will be added to our waiting list until the next slot becomes available.

  • You will be informed by email whether your application for a scholarship is approved and that you are on our waiting list.

  • None of your personal or financial information is stored on our system. Once your application is approved, all of your financial and personal circumstance information is securely deleted from our servers and drives, retaining only contact and booking-relevant details on the waiting list, protected by GDPR and will not be shared or sold.

  • The application form may be closed when available slots are all taken and the waiting list full, in which case we will take contact details and inform you when it reopens.

  • Only on completion of the six month period will AngleseyMusic provide the reports and evidence required to support a charity application to A-Y-M or MusicForAll, if required. If at this time you wish to continue lessons, they will be chargeable lessons, at the discretion of the company.
